Hey friend

My name is Shelly. Welcome to my part of the world.

While you’re here. I’d like to share some of my story with you.

Here Goes

Get to know me

Let me introduce myself.

I live in a small town in Alaska with my husband and our lovable Labrador, Chester. Although I’ve lived in the far north for almost a decade, my roots are deeply steeped in Southern tradition. The culture here is different but has many similarities. Maybe that’s why I feel so at home.

My early dream was to be a wife and mother. God granted that desire to me at a young age through three beautiful children and a devoted husband. We grew up together.

I love books and writing. Novels give me a peaceful, familiar feeling, and I love that they can transport me to places I will probably never visit. Almost every room in our home has a corner or shelf with books on display. Cookbooks, spiritual books, and novels. Lots of novels.

I come from a long line of storytellers in the Appalachian Mountains, but my love of writing didn’t come until my early thirties when I lost both my parents. I didn’t want their story to end there, so I wrote about their early years together, evoking a burning passion to put my feelings into words.

My love of Jesus goes back as far as I can remember. My father was in and out of prison for most of my childhood. I can recall helping him pack to go away for his last stint, my little hands gently laying a Bible in his bag. He gave his heart to the Lord while he waited for his sentence. When he returned years later, our lives were much different, filled with attending church and hearing about a Savior who gave His life for us.

Many years ago, the seed planted in my heart grew into a commitment to share Him with others. My husband and I own and run a non profit reaching the indigenous peoples in surrounding villages. We work with them to build healthier communities.
